The Statistical Service announces the publication of the report entitled "Registration of Motor Vehicles" for the period January-March 2018.

The main developments in the first three months of 2018, compared to the same period of 2017, were:

     (a)     The total registrations of motor vehicles increased by 25,8% to 13.002 in January-March 2018, from 10.334 vehicles in the same period of 2017.

(b)     Passenger saloon cars increased to 11.024 from 8.666 in January-March 2017, i.e. there was an increase of 27,2%. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 4.250 or 38,6% were new and 6.774 or 61,4% were used cars.

(c)        Goods conveyance vehicles increased by 24,3% to 1.291 in January-March 2018, compared to 1.039 in January-March 2017. In particular, light goods vehicles increased by 28,4% to 1.102, heavy goods vehicles increased by 28,7% to 130, while road tractors (units of trailers) decreased by 26,3% to 59. 

(d)        Mopeds< 50cc increased to 41 in January-March 2018, compared to 24 in January-March 2017.

(e)       Mechanised cycles> 50cc numbered 470 in 2018, compared to 471 in January-March 2017.
