Job Vacancies: 3rd quarter 2020

Annual Change -8,1%

The number of job vacancies in the 3rd quarter of 2020 reached 6.554. The number of job vacancies decreased by 576 (-8,1%) compared to the same quarter of the previous year where the number was 7.130. Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2020 the number of job vacancies increased by 2.382 (57,1%). (Table 1)    

The job vacancy rate in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was 1,7%, while the job vacancy rate in the previous quarter and the 3rd quarter of 2019 was 1,2% and 2,0% respectively. The largest job vacancy rates in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were observed in the Sectors of Information and Communication (3,2%), Public Administration (2,3%), Accommodation and Food Services (2,2%) and Wholesale and Retail Trade (2,1%). (Table 2)

METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Definitions

A job vacancy has to be announced as vacant outside the enterprise concerned, has to be filled in the near future and the employer must have taken active steps to find a suitable candidate.

The job vacancy rate is the number of job vacancies expressed as a percentage of the total number of occupied posts and job vacancies.

Coverage

The survey covers enterprises with one or more employees classified in all Sectors of Economic Activities under the NACE Rev.2 classification system except A (Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing), T (Activities of Households as Employers; Undifferentiated Goods- and Services-Producing Activities of Households for own use) and U (Activities of Extraterritorial Organizations and Bodies).

Collection of data

The data collection is carried out by telephone interviews every quarter.
