Intra & Extra Eu trade statistics (By commodity and Country) - January 2021

The Statistical Service of Cyprus announces that it has published the monthly electronic publication “Intra & Extra EU Trade Statistics (by commodity and country)” for January 2021. It includes detailed quantity and value data on imports and exports of domestically produced goods and foreign goods, classified at the 6 digits commodity code level and by partner country.

The main developments in the foreign trade of Cyprus were:

(a) Total imports of goods (from EU Member States and from third countries) in January 2021 amounted to €594,4 mn as compared to €700,3 mn in January 2020, recording a decrease of 15,1%. Total exports of goods (to EU Member States and to third countries) in January 2021 were €155,3 mn compared to €220,6 mn in January 2020, registering a decrease of 29,6%. The trade deficit was €439,1 mn in January 2021 compared to €479,7 mn in the corresponding month of 2020.

(b) The European Union was the main source of supply of goods to Cyprus with a share of €372,8 mn of total imports, while imports from all other European countries totalled €61,2 mn in January 2021. Imports from the rest of the world amounted to €160,4 mn.

(c) Exports to the European Union accounted for €63,7 mn, while exports to all other European countries for €27,5 mn in January 2021. Exports to the rest of the world amounted to €64,1 mn.
