Intra & Extra EU Trade Statistics (by commodity and country), January – February 2021

The Statistical Service of Cyprus announces that it has published the monthly electronic publication “Intra & Extra EU Trade Statistics (by commodity and country)” for January – February 2021. It includes detailed quantity and value data on imports and exports of domestically produced goods and foreign goods, classified at the 6 digits commodity code level and by partner country.

The main developments in the foreign trade of Cyprus were:

(a)   Total imports of goods (from EU Member States and from third countries) in January – February 2021 amounted to €1.332,7 mn as compared to €1.453,0 mn in January – February 2020, recording a decrease of 8,3%. Total exports of goods (to EU Member States and to third countries) in January – February 2021 were €332,9 mn compared to €438,9 mn in the same period of 2020, registering a decrease of 24,2%. The trade deficit was €999,8 mn in January – February 2021 compared to €1.014,1 mn in the corresponding period of 2020.

(b)   The European Union was the main source of supply of goods to Cyprus with a share of €745,4 mn of total imports, while imports from all other European countries totalled €93,9 mn in January - February 2021. Imports from the rest of the world amounted to €493,4 mn.

(c)Exports to the European Union accounted for €120,6 mn, while exports to all other European countries for €51,9 mn in January - February 2021. Exports to the rest of the world amounted to €160,4 mn.
