Imports, sales and stocks of petroleum products: October 2021
Annual change in sales +25,2%
In October 2021, the total sales of petroleum products amounted to 132.329 tonnes, recording a rise of 25,2% compared to October 2020. An increase was observed in the provisions of aviation kerosene (141,6%) and marine gasoil (21,0%), as well as in the sales of kerosene (130,8%), light fuel oil (53,8%), heating gasoil (39,7%), liquefied petroleum gases (15,3%), heavy fuel oil (12,1%) and asphalt (10,1%). A small decrease was recorded in the sales of road diesel (-2,7%) and motor gasoline (-0,4%).
As far as the sales from filling stations are specifically concerned, these have registered an increase of 0,8% to 55.962 tonnes.
The total sales of petroleum products in October 2021 compared to September 2021 recorded a rise of 4,0%. Indicatively, the provisions of aviation kerosene rose by 3,5% while the sales of motor gasoline fell by 12,2% and those of road diesel by 10,0%.
The total stocks of petroleum products at the end of October 2021 recorded an increase of 6,8% compared to the end of the previous month.
During the period January – October 2021, the total sales of petroleum products increased by 3,4% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Scope and Coverage
The collection of data on Imports, Sales and Stocks of Petroleum Products is carried out on a monthly basis.
It concerns the sales of petroleum products from filling stations and the sales to government departments, to the British Bases and the United Nations, to ships and to other customers, as well as the stocks held at the end of each month. Only the petroleum companies are being covered. Additionally, the imports of petroleum products imported directly from the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) and the manufacturing industry are also included.
Data collection
The collection of data is conducted by the Statistical Service on a monthly basis by electronically receiving a purpose-designed questionnaire from each of these companies.
