Option for a 24-hour rapid test for passengers travelling to the Republic of Cyprus

The Council of Ministers approved, at its meeting today, a proposal by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works for the amendment of the measure which is implemented at the points of entry to the Republic, regarding the presentation of a negative molecular test result by persons travelling to Cyprus.

In particular, as of Friday, 14 January 2022, at 5 a.m., passengers aged 12 years and over, regardless of their vaccination history, who wish to travel to the Republic of Cyprus, have the option to undergo one of the following diagnostic tests:

  1. RT-PCR laboratory test, valid up to 72 hours prior to departure, or
  2. Antigen rapid test, valid up to 24 hours prior to departure.

It is stressed that the obligation of taking a PCR test upon arrival at the airports of the Republic continues to apply to all passengers aged 12 or over, regardless of their vaccination history. It is noted that the cost of the test (EUR 15 at Larnaka Airport and EUR 19 at Pafos Airport) is borne by the passenger.

In addition, all passengers aged 12 years and over must undergo a rapid antigen test 72 hours after their arrival, with the exception of passengers who have received the 3rd dose of an acceptable vaccine against COVID-19.

Finally, it is reminded that the completion of the Cyprus Flight Pass before departure is mandatory for all persons travelling to the Republic of Cyprus.
