The Department of Meteorology supports the victims of the deadly wildfires in Attica
The Director and personnel of the Department of Meteorology, deeply shocked by the recent tragic events in Greece, following the deadly wildfires in Attica, have expressed their profound grief on the loss of so many innocent lives, as well as their great concern on the fate of the missing persons and the wellbeing of the surviving victims, in the aftermath of that devastating catastrophe.
As a gesture of solidarity, goodwill and brotherhood towards our suffering fellow Greeks, the Department of Meteorology staff at Nicosia Headquarters, in a spontaneous motivation, were voluntarily involved in the collection of life’s essential commodities, including various kinds of canned food and other dry food packages, as well as clothing, footwear and bedding material, medical supplies etc. The collected aid stock was delivered promptly to the relevant authorities at Strovolos Municipality, on Thursday, 26 July, for immediate dispatch to the afflicted areas in Greece.
The Director of the Department cordially thanks all the personnel who have undertaken this charitable initiative, to contribute to the relief of the suffering of our brothers at these difficult moments.
