Opening of the Photographic Exhibition by the Press and Information Office titled “KTICIC”
The inauguration of the photographic exhibition "KTICIC" by the Press and Information Office (PIO) in collaboration with the “Nicosia International Festival” took place last night, December 7th, at the Municipal Theatre of Lefkosia. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Minister of Interior, Mr Constantinos Ioannou, in the presence of the PIO Director, Ms Aliki Stylianou, political figures, academics, and personalities from the fields of Arts and Culture.
In his address, Minister Constantinos Ioannou referred to the archaeological value of Kourion depicted in the photographic exhibition, which “draws inspiration from the archaeological site of Kourion and highlights the female figure of KTICIC." He added, "The female form of KTICIC represents the birth of the new and constitutes a distinctive sign of our country's resilience against wars, invaders, and natural elements." Referring to Stefanos Kouratzis' work, he stated that "Through his modern photographic perspective, we travel through the history of our country, tracing the footsteps of a civilisation marked by conquerors over the centuries, understanding the quality of artisans of that era, and grasping the grandeur of the period." Mr Ioannou congratulated the Director of the Press and Information Office, the Artistic Director of the Nicosia International Festival, and their teams for organising this photographic exhibition.
In her address, the PIO Director Ms Aliki Stylianou referred to the successful journey of the photographic exhibition "SHE – Cyprus in the Feminine," of which the new photographic exhibition "KTICIC" is a continuation. She said, "Through Stefanos Kouratzis' photographic lens and the artistic wisdom of Catherine Louis Nikita, the exhibition “highlights this female figure exposed to natural elements and the tumultuous history of our island, transforming before our eyes into the symbol of resilience and survival for all Cypriots." Ms Stylianou pointed out that the Press and Information Office remains faithful to its mission, "capturing, recording, and highlighting Cyprus and its culture, unraveling the thread that connects yesterday with today”.
The exhibition will remain displayed and open to the public at the foyer of the Municipal Theater of Lefkosia until January 30, 2024.
Opening hours: 10:00 - 13:00 and one hour before the start of performances at the Municipal Theater of Lefkosia.
