Cyprus wins the “Habano World Challenge” at the 20th Habano Festival, held in Habana
Friday 2nd of March 2018 marked the conclusion of the 20th Habano Festival, which was organized in Havana, Cuba; an annual festival aiming to bring together cigar fans from all over the world. In the framework of the festival, national teams from different countries participated in the “Habanos World Challenge” for competing knowledge on cigars and their promotion to the wider public.
At the final stage of the competition the teams of Cuba and Cyprus competed for the first prize; Cyprus achieved the first place, due to the excellent performance of Alexis Tselepis and Raffi de Garabedian, who impressed judges and public with their knowledge and passion on Cuban cigars.
The competition was widely covered by the Cuban Mass Media, due to the importance of cigars for the economy and the culture of Cuba.
The Chargé d’ Affaires of Cyprus in Havana, Mr Stelios Georgiades, was among those attended the awards ceremony.
