The Minister of Foreign Affairs met in Rome with a senior executive of ENI

On the sidelines of his participation in the Ministerial Meeting in support of Lebanon's Armed Forces (LAF) and Internal Security Forces, as well as his participation in the extraordinary ministerial conference in support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees held in Rome, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, had a meeting today with Mr Lapo Pistelli, Executive Vice President of ENI.

At the meeting with the ENI official, an assessment of the company's relations with the Republic of Cyprus was made, in the light of the Turkish provocations in the sea of Cyprus and the overall energy developments in the eastern Mediterranean.

During the meeting, there was a consensus on the significance of the eastern Mediterranean as a vital source of hydrocarbons supply in the region and in Europe. In this context, Cyprus’ potential key role in designing and implementing future synergies in the hydrocarbons’ sector was discussed.

In particular, as regards to ENI's future relations with Cyprus, ENI's determination to fulfill all its obligations towards the Republic of Cyprus, according to the contracts, covering a total of six exploration blocks within Cyprus’ EEZ, was noted.
