Elections 2024 – Statement by the Chief Returning Officer, Dr Elikkos A. Elia, on the commencement of the voting
Voting commenced for the election of Members of the European Parliament, of Local Government and of Members of School Boards at 7 a.m.698,896 persons in total have the right to vote.All ballot boxes in all 1,847 polling stations, which are located in the Republic of Cyprus, as well as in the 10 polling stations in Greece, were opened.The ballot box in Belgium is expected to open at 9 a.m., Cyprus time, and the ballot boxes in the United Kingdom are expected to open at 10 a.m., Cyprus time....

2024 Elections – The use of mobile phones is prohibited inside the polling stations
The Chief Returning Officer announces that the use of mobile phones is prohibited inside the polling stations by any person other than the presiding officer and only for the purpose of communicating with the respective Elections Officers.The presiding officer has the authority to remove from the polling station any person using his/her mobile phone, as well as order the arrest of persons who attempt to use their mobile phones. Building Permits: March 2024
The Statistical Service announces that the number of building permits authorised by the municipal authorities and the district administration offices during March 2024 stood at 583. The total value of these permits reached €260,1 million and the total area 225,7 thousand square metres. Inflation 2,7%In May 2024, the Consumer Price Index increased by 0,75 units and reached 117,84 units compared to 117,09 units in April 2024. In May 2024, the inflation increased by 2,7%.
