The new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of Maldives presented his credentials
The new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of Maldives, with residence in New Delhi, Mr Agis Loizou, presented on Sunday, 08 December 2019, his credentials to the President of the country, Mr Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, during an official ceremony at the President’s Office in Male.
Following the ceremony, the Ambassador had a meeting with the President of Maldives, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and high officials of the President’s Office, during which Ambassador Loizou conveyed to the President of Maldives the warm greetings of President Anastasiades, the Government and the people of Cyprus, expressing Cyprus’ gratitude for the firm support of Maldives for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus, which President Solih reiterated. He furthermore informed on the latest developments on the Cyprus problem and discussed Cyprus –Maldives relations, including ways of further strengthening the friendly relations of the two countries, particularly in the areas of health, tourism, education and environment.
Furthermore, Ambassador Loizou had bilateral meetings at the Maldivian Foreign Ministry with the Foreign Minister, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, as well as High Officials of the Ministry.
