Agriculture Minister departs for Brussels to attend Agriculture and Environment Councils
The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr Costas Kadis, departs today for Brussels to attend the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council, which will be held on 16-17 December and the Environment Council, on 18 December.
The Agriculture and Fisheries Council will review the progress made in recent months on the post 2020 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) reform package, based on the Progress Report prepared by the Finland’s Presidency. “World’s forests for a sustainable future” will be the topic which the Ministers will discuss over working lunch.
At the Environment Council, Mr Kadis and his counterparts will discuss the issue of biodiversity and the European Green Agreement. In particular, Ministers are expected to adopt conclusions which will offer political guidance for the EU's biodiversity policies after 2020 and to exchange views on priorities and initiatives in environment and climate policy from 2020, including the European Green Deal.
