On the occasion of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, which takes place each year on October 17 throughout the world, the Statistical Service of Cyprus publishes an Infographic on “Poverty and Social Exclusion, 2019”. In Cyprus, the percentage of the population that was at risk of poverty, meaning that its disposable income was below the at-risk-of-poverty threshold (€9.729), reached 14,7% in 2019 compared to 15,4% in 2018. The decrease corresponds to approximately 4.000 fewer persons in at risk of poverty in 2019 (128 thous.), compared to 2018 (132 thous.).
