Foreign Trade Statistics, September 2020 (final data) and October 2020 (provisional data)
The Statistical Service of Cyprus announces the release of final data on the foreign trade of Cyprus for September 2020 and of provisional data for October 2020.
Foreign Trade Statistics, September 2020
The main developments in the foreign trade of Cyprus in September 2020 were:
(a) Total imports of goods (from EU Member States and from third countries) amounted to €579,2 mn in September 2020 as compared to €718,3 mn in September 2019, recording a decrease of 19,4%.
(b) Exports of domestically produced products, including stores and provisions, in September 2020 were €110,0 mn as compared to €133,7 mn in September 2019, recording a decrease of 17,7%. Domestic exports of industrial products in September 2020 were €104,3 mn compared to €127,6 mn in September 2019, whilst domestic exports of agricultural products in September 2020 were €4,0 mn compared to €4,3 mn in September 2019.
(c) Exports of foreign products, including stores and provisions, in September 2020 were €66,0 mn as compared to €85,9 mn in September 2019, recording a decrease of 23,2%.
The data are included in the monthly electronic publication “Intra & Extra EU Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)” for September 2020, which is available free of charge from the website of the Statistical Service, under the section “Publications” in the statistical theme Foreign Trade.
Foreign Trade Statistics, October 2020
On the basis of provisional data, the main developments in the foreign trade of Cyprus in October 2020 can be summarized as follows:
(a) Total imports of goods were €798,7 mn as compared to €692,9 mn in October 2019, recording an increase of 15,3%. Imports from other EU Member States in October 2020 were €367,7 mn and from third countries €430,9 mn, compared to €450,4 mn and €242,5 mn respectively in October 2019. Imports in October 2020 include the transfer of economic ownership of mobile transport equipment (vessels), with total value of €267,2 mn as compared to €26,8 mn in October 2019.
(b) Total exports of goods in October 2020 were €272,2 mn as compared to €243,7 mn in October 2019, recording an increase of 11,7%. Exports to other EU Member States in October 2020 were €158,6 mn and to third countries €113,6 mn, compared to €66,9 mn and €176,8 mn respectively in October 2019. Exports in October 2020 include the transfer of economic ownership of mobile transport equipment (vessels), with total value of €131,2 mn as compared to €56,2 mn in October 2019.
(c) Total imports of goods (from EU Member States and from third countries) in January – October 2020 amounted to €6.214,6 mn as compared to €6.849,6 mn in January – October 2019, recording a decrease of 9,3%. Total exports of goods (to EU Member States and to third countries) in January – October 2020 were €2.401,1 mn compared to €2.651,6 mn in January – October 2019, registering a decrease of 9,4%. The trade deficit was €3.813,5 mn in January – October 2020 compared to €4.198,0 mn in the corresponding period of 2019.
