Intra & Extra EU Trade Statistics
January – September 2020
The Statistical Service of Cyprus announces that it has published the monthly electronic publication “Intra & Extra EU Trade Statistics (by commodity and country)” for January - September 2020. It includes detailed quantity and value data on imports and exports of domestically produced goods and foreign goods, classified at the 6 digits commodity code level and by partner country.
(a) The main developments in the foreign trade of Cyprus were:
Total imports of goods (from EU Member States and from third countries) in January – September 2020 amounted to €5.415,9 mn as compared to €6.156,7 mn in January – September 2019, recording a decrease of 12,0%. Total exports of goods (to EU Member States and to third countries) in January – September 2020 were €2.128,8 mn compared to €2.407,9 mn in the same period of 2019, registering a decrease of 11,6%. The trade deficit was €3.287,1 mn in January – September 2020 compared to €3.748,9 mn in the corresponding period of 2019.
(b) The European Union was the main source of supply of goods to Cyprus with a share of €3.255,8 mn of total imports, while imports from all other European countries totalled €612,1 mn in January - September 2020. Imports from the rest of the world amounted to €1.548,0 mn.
(c)Exports to the European Union accounted for €602,9 mn, while exports to all other European countries for €220,9 mn in January - September 2020. Exports to the rest of the world amounted to €1.305,0 mn.
