January – October 2020 

The Statistical Service of Cyprus announces that it has published the monthly electronic publication “Intra & Extra EU Trade Statistics (by commodity and country)” for January - October 2020. It includes detailed quantity and value data on imports and exports of domestically produced goods and foreign goods, classified at the 6 digits commodity code level and by partner country.

The main developments in the foreign trade of Cyprus were:

(a)    Total importsof goods (from EU Member States and from third countries) in January – October 2020 amounted to €6.239,5 mn as compared to €6.849,6 mn in January – October 2019, recording a decrease of 8,9%. Total exports of goods (to EU Member States and to third countries) in January – October 2020 were €2.400,9 mn compared to €2.651,6 mn in the same period of 2019, registering a decrease of 9,5%. Thetrade deficitwas €3.838,6 mn in January – October 2020 compared to €4.198,0 mn in the corresponding period of 2019.

(b)    The European Union was the main source of supply of goods to Cyprus with a share of €3.645,8 mn of total imports, while imports from all other European countries totalled €687,9 mn in January - October 2020. Imports from the rest of the world amounted to €1.905,8 mn.

(c) Exports to the European Union accounted for €811,5 mn, while exports to all other European countries for €239,1 mn in January - October 2020. Exports to the rest of the world amounted to €1.350,3 mn.
