A total of 310,000 individuals will have received at least the 1st dose of the vaccine by the beginning of May

The increase of the vaccination coverage of the population by the 1st week of May is expected to be significant, according to the updated timetable that was given. Despite the reduction in AstraZeneca vaccine shipments, which is affecting all EU states in the current and the following week, Cyprus is expected to receive an additional 270,000 doses of the four licensed vaccines by the end of April, raising the total number of doses that have been received since December 2020 to 440,000.

In particular, and based on the quantities that are expected to be sent, it is estimated that an additional 195,000 individuals will have been vaccinated with at least the 1st dose of the vaccine by the 1st week of May. According to the National Vaccination Plan for COVID-19, in the above period, at least the 1st dose of the vaccine will have been administered to individuals falling into the vulnerable groups, as well as the general population, covering the age group of 45 years and over

The Ministry of Health remains committed to the implementation of the National Vaccination Plan for COVID-19, in accordance with the availability of vaccines. Recognizing that vaccination is the key weapon in dealing with the health crisis, all citizens are called upon to continue to support the national effort, by choosing vaccination as the means that will save our lives. The commitment of all to this tremendous effort will protect us from the virus, and allow us to safely return to normality.
