The vaccination portal opens on Sunday for individuals belonging to specific vulnerable groups
The implementation of the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 continues, with priority for arranging an appointment being given to specific groups of people with increased risk of serious illness. From Sunday, 11 April at 8 a.m., until Monday, 12 April at 8 p.m., 7.500 appointments for vaccination with Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines will be made available through the Vaccination Portal in all districts, proportionally, based on the availability for each type of vaccine.
Priority for vaccination will be given to 7,200 patients, registered with the General Health System as determined on the basis of scientific criteria by the Scientific Advisory Committee and the Ad Hoc Committee for the prioritization of vulnerable groups. Scientific companies and the Cyprus Medical Association as well as Patients’ Associations through the Federation of Patients Associations of Cyprus contributed significantly in the preparation of the registers. It is noted that most requests by Specialized doctors, received after the deadline, to include additional patients have been taken into account, while those not included will be vaccinated at a later stage.
More specifically, patients belonging to the following groups, regardless of age, will be able to plan their vaccination on 11 and 12 April:
Patients belonging to the above groups will be informed of the priority they will have for an appointment arrangement also by means of a written telephone message, provided that their contact details are complete and correct.
It is recalled that patients who are not beneficiaries of the General Health System (GESY) or receive medicines that fall into these categories from the private sector, will be given priority for vaccination, based on the above criteria, upon confirmation by their treating physician and after sending a relevant e-mail to the e-mail address emvoliasmos.eidikes@moh.gov.cy. The email should express the patient’s interest for vaccination, quoting his/her Identity Number/Identification Document Number, contact telephone number, stating the specific group he /she belongs to and attaching the relevant certificate by the treating physician.
By the 9th April, 183,225 vaccinations were administered out of which 130.937 concern the administration of the 1st doseand 52.288concern the administration of both doses. The 1st dose of the vaccine was administered to 10.318 individuals belonging to the vulnerable groups and 654 to bedridden individuals. At the same time, vaccination has begun in closed structures and will continue in the next few days. Already, 158 individuals in the Central Prisons have been vaccinated with the 1st dose.
