Large walk-in center for citizens’ vaccination to operate in Lemesos Sunday

Aiming to strengthen protection against COVID-19, utilizing the scientific weapon of vaccination, the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the Cyprus Medical Association, the Lemesos School Board and the Polyclinic “Health”, will operate on Sunday, October 10th, a large walk-in vaccination centre.

The vaccination centre will operate at the Laniteio Sports Centre in Lemesos, from 8 am to 3 pm, offering citizens the opportunity to receive their vaccine. Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines will be administered.

In particular, the vaccination units at Sunday’s walk-in centre will serve only the following groups of citizens:

1.  Persons aged 12 years and over who have not yet been vaccinated against COVID-19 (administration of first dose).

2. Individuals aged 12 years and over who have received the 1st dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and the period of three (3) weeks required for the 2nd dose and completion of their vaccination regimen (administration of the 2nd dose) has elapsed.

3. For vaccination with a 3rd dose, individuals from the following groups will be served:

i) persons aged 65 and over, provided that a period of six (6) months has elapsed since their second dose.

ii) health professionals, regardless of age, provided that a period of six (6) months has elapsed since their second dose.

iii) workers in senior people’s homes, regardless of age, provided that a period of six (6) months has elapsed since their second dose. For identification purposes, a certificate from the employer certifying that the person is working in a senior people’s home should be provided.

iv) people with immunosuppression/immunodeficiency, regardless of age, provided that a period of four (4) weeks has elapsed since the second dose. Specifically, it concerns the following patient groups:

- Individuals in active treatment for solid tumors and haematological malignancies

- People with a history of transplantation of solid organs receiving immunosuppressive therapy

- People with a history of transplantation of primary haematopoietic organs receiving immunosuppressive therapy

- Persons with hereditary immunodeficiency

- People with HIV Infection/AIDS

- Individuals in immunosuppressive therapy including biological agents. As regards cortisone intake, it concerns individuals who have received or are receiving a total dose of >10 mg prednisone/day (=8 mg of methylprednisolone) for 1 month in the last six months.

It is recalled that all individuals must provide proof of identification (identity, passport, Alien Registration Card, etc.) as well as their vaccination card if they are to receive the 2nd or 3 rd dose.
