I am happy to be here today, following our presence in the event that took place last September, when we had the opportunity to honour the memory of the lost ones during the 9/11 attack and at the same time acknowledge the efforts of the first responders who do the utmost to secure people’s lives and properties.

That event was inarguably a success and I would like once more to congratulate the American Embassy for conceiving the idea but also for their flawless organization. The voluntary donation process led to purchasing important equipment that will help the Cyprus Fire Service in its duties.

At the same time, it has a symbolic nature, as this gesture represents the strong bond between our communities and our common dedication on shared values and beliefs.

On behalf of the Cyprus Government, I would like to thank you for this significant initiative as well as for your continuous support and reiterate our commitment to a closer cooperation.
