Announcement by the Department of Meteorology for the provisional precipitation data of December 2021
According to the provisional precipitation data of the Department of Meteorology, the average area precipitation for December was 198mm or 188% of normal (normal period: 1961-1990). Monthly precipitation was much above normal.
December 2021 is ranked as the 18th wettest December since 1901 (concerning precipitation).
Snowfall was recorded on the 8th, 15th, 17th-21st and on the 29th of December. Hail was recorded on the 5th, 13th, 14th and 30th of December.
The cumulative average area precipitation during the period October-December 2021 was about 235mm or 122% of normal (provisional precipitation data). The cumulative precipitation was above normal almost in all areas.
