Changes to the Release Protocol and introduction of an automated release procedure
The Ministry of Health informs citizens that, as from 17 January 2022, COVID-19 positive cases will be automatically released after ten days of self-isolation have elapsed from the date of the first positive test result, with day zero being the date of the first positive test result. It is noted that the date of occurrence of symptoms will not be taken into account, while the release procedure will be carried out without the participation of the Personal Doctors.
Individuals who have been tested positive to the virus, must still inform their Personal Doctors of the positive result, so that they can monitor their health and issue them sick leave, where necessary.
In cases where the Personal Doctor considers that the self-isolation of the case should continue due to persistent symptoms (fever and no improvement of the remaining symptoms two days before release) or in the case of immunosuppressed patients, the period of self-isolation may be extended.
Citizens will be automatically informed on their mobile phone via SMS on the night before the date of their release.
The Personal Doctors have been informed about the above procedure by the Health Insurance Organization and the Cyprus Medical Association.
It is recalled that citizens identified as positive to the virus, are now obliged to fill in their data on the online platform, regardless of whether they have close contacts to declare, in order to be able to be automatically released after the 10 days of self-isolation.
