Foreign Trade Statistics: November 2021 (final data) and December 2021 (provisional data)
The Statistical Service of Cyprus announces the release of final data on the foreign trade of Cyprus for November 2021 and of provisional data for December 2021.
Foreign Trade Statistics, November 2021
The main developments in the foreign trade of Cyprus in November 2021 were:
(a) Total imports of goods (from EU Member States and from third countries) amounted to €924,6 mn in November 2021 as compared to €692,9 mn in November 2020, recording an increase of 33,4%.
(b) Exports of domestically produced products, including stores and provisions, in November 2021 were €145,2 mn as compared to €98,5 mn in November 2020, recording an increase of 47,4%. Domestic exports of industrial products in November 2021 were €137,5 mn compared to €92,1 mn in November 2020, whilst domestic exports of agricultural products in November 2021 were €5,9 mn compared to €4,3 mn in November 2020.
(c) Exports of foreign products, including stores and provisions, in November 2021 were €223,4 mn as compared to €49,2 mn in November 2020, recording an increase of 354,1%.
The data are included in the monthly electronic publication “Intra & Extra EU Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)” for November 2021, which is available free of charge οn the CYSTAT portal, under the section “Publications” in the statistical theme External Trade.
Foreign Trade Statistics, December 2021
On the basis of provisional data, the main developments in the foreign trade of Cyprus in December 2021 can be summarized as follows:
(a) Total imports of goods were €692,5 mn as compared to €713,5 mn in December 2020, recording a decrease of 3,0%. Imports from other EU Member States in December 2021 were €425,5 mn and from third countries €267,0 mn, compared to €397,0 mn and €316,5 mn respectively in December 2020. Imports in December 2021 include the transfer of economic ownership of mobile transport equipment (vessels), with total value of €12,4 mn as compared to €120,4 mn in December 2020.
(b) Total exports of goods in December 2021 were €334,1 mn as compared to €190,6 mn in December 2020, recording an increase of 75,3%. Exports to other EU Member States in December 2021 were €60,9 mn and to third countries €273,2 mn, compared to €58,8 mn and €131,8 mn respectively in December 2020. Exports in December 2021 include the transfer of economic ownership of mobile transport equipment (vessels), with total value of €158,0 mn as compared to €43,0 mn in December 2020.
(c) Total imports of goods (from EU Member States and from third countries) in January – December 2021 amounted to €8.468,1 mn as compared to €7.642,1 mn in January – December 2020, recording an increase of 10,8%. Total exports of goods (to EU Member States and to third countries) in January - December 2021 were €3.279,9 mn compared to €2.746,6 mn in January - December 2020, registering an increase of 19,4%. The trade deficit was €5.188,2 mn in January - December 2021 compared to €4.895,5 mn in the corresponding period of 2020.
