Statements by the Government Spokesman on the second day of the Informal European Council Summit in Versailles
Τhe developments following the Russian invasion of Ukraine find the European economies facing a number of challenges that we collectively have to manage so that the impact on European citizens is as small as possible, the Government Spokesman, Mr Marios Pelekanos said, referring to the deliberations of the second day of the Informal Summit of EU Heads of State and Government, in Versailles.
In statements to the media, the Spokesman said that “on the second day of the Informal Summit of EU Heads of State and Government, the leaders’ discussions focused on strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of the European economy.
Despite the significant recovery steps taken over the last year and the positive prospects of the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Fund programmes, the developments following the Russian invasion of Ukraine find the European economies facing a number of challenges that we collectively have to manage so that the impact on European citizens is as small as possible.
Among the issues discussed today was how to address the effects of supply chain distortions and the increase in energy prices, as well as building a stronger economic base, policies attracting investment in the EU, the new growth model and the implementation of the green and digital transition strategy”.
