Job Vacancies: 4th Quarter 2021

The number of job vacancies in the 4th quarter of 2021 reached 9.643. The number of job vacancies increased by 4.679 (94,3%) compared to the same quarter of the previous year where the number was 4.964. Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2021 the number of job vacancies increased by 3.285 (51,7%). (Table 1)   

The job vacancy rate in the 4th quarter of 2021 was 2,4%, while the job vacancy rate in the previous quarter and the 4th quarter of 2020 was 2,4% and 1,3% respectively. The largest job vacancy rates in the 4th quarter of 2021 were observed in the Sectors of Information and Communication (4,2%),  Accommodation and Food Service Activities (3,3%), Wholesale and Retail Trade, Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles (3,1%) and Manufacturing (3,0%). (Table 2)

Methodological Information

Definitions

A job vacancy has to be announced as vacant outside the enterprise concerned, has to be filled in the near future and the employer must have taken active steps to find a suitable candidate.

The job vacancy rate is the number of job vacancies expressed as a percentage of the total number of occupied posts and job vacancies.

Coverage

The survey covers enterprises with 1 or more employees classified in all sectors of economic activities according to the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities NACE Rev. 2  of the European Union system except Sectors A (Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing), T (Activities of Households as Employers; Undifferentiated Goods- and Services-Producing Activities of Households for own use) and U (Activities of Extraterritorial Organizations and Bodies).

Collection of data

The data collection is carried out by telephone interviews every quarter.
