Intra & Extra EU Trade Statistics (by commodity and country), January – December 2021

The Statistical Service of Cyprus announces that it has published the monthly electronic publication “Intra & Extra EU Trade Statistics (by commodity and country)” for January - December 2021. It includes detailed quantity and value data on imports and exports of domestically produced goods and foreign goods, classified at the 6 digits commodity code level and by partner country.

The main developments in the foreign trade of Cyprus were:

Total imports of goods (from EU Member States and from third countries) in January - December 2021 amounted to €8.531,2 mn as compared to €7.642,1 mn in January - December 2020, recording an increase of 11,6%. Total exports of goods (to EU Member States and to third countries) in January - December 2021 were €3.286,7 mn compared to €2.746,6 mn in the same period of 2020, registering an increase of 19,7%. The trade deficit was €5.244,5 mn in January - December 2021 compared to €4.895,5 mn in the corresponding period of 2020.

The European Union was the main source of supply of goods to Cyprus with a share of €5.519,6 mn of total imports, while imports from all other European countries totalled €659,0 mn in January - December 2021. Imports from the rest of the world amounted to €2.352,6 mn.

Exports to the European Union accounted for €874,8 mn, while exports to all other European countries for €411,4 mn in January - December 2021. Exports to the rest of the world amounted to €2.000,5 mn.
