Announcement by the Ministry of Health on the administration of a booster/4th dose to persons over 60 years of age

Following a decision by the Council of Ministers, dated 20 April 2022, the Ministry of Health informs that as of Tuesday, 26 April 2022, the booster/4th dose will be administered to persons over 60 years of age. Beneficiaries will be able to do so by arranging a vaccination appointment through the vaccination portal, or through the walk-in vaccination centres in operation in all districts.

It is stressed that as of Tuesday, 26 April 2022, the Spiros Kyprianou Vacccination Centre in Lemesos will temporarily operate in Linopetra Health Centre due to sports activities.

In particular the booster/4th dose is administered to:

  • persons over 60 years of age(upon presentation of identity card or passport and the vaccination card)
  • residents or employees in Senior People’s homes or closed structures, regardless of age (upon presentation of identity card or passport and the vaccination card)
  • healthcare professionals (upon presentation of identity card or passport, the vaccination card and permit of employment)
  • to *immunodeficient and *immunosuppressed patients, regardless of age

provided that the period of five (5) months after receiving the booster/3rd dose has elapsed.

*Immunodeficient and immunosuppressed patients can visit the walk-in vaccination centres by presenting a medical certificate from a Specialist Doctor (identity card or passport, vaccination card), or can ask for the arrangement of a vaccination appointment through their treating doctor, by sending a request to the email address: 4dose@moh.gov.cy

*Immunosuppressed patients:

  • Under active treatment for solid tumours and haematological malignancies
  • With a history of solid organ transplantation receiving immunosuppressive therapy
  • With a history of transplantation of primary haematopoietic organs receiving immunosuppressive therapy
  • With hereditary immunodeficiency
  • With HIV Infection/AIDS
  • Under immunosuppressive therapy including biological agents
  • Regarding cortisone intake, this concerns patients who have received or are receiving a total dose >10 mg prednisone/day (=8 mg of methylpregnisolone) for one (1) month in the last six months.
  • With renal insufficiency undergoing haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.

Operating hours of walk-in vaccination centres

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Lemesos: Linopetra Health Centre

Pafos: Pafos General Hospital

Ammochostos: Ammochostos Health Centre

Kyperounta: Vaccination Centre (former Cooperative Bank)

Polis Chrysochous: Polis Chrysochous Hospital (every Tuesday 09:30 a.m. to 02:00 p.m.).

In particular:

  • Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available daily at walk-in vaccination centres.
  • Every Friday Johnsοn & Johnson vaccine will also be available.
  • The Novavax vaccine is administered only through the arrangement of an appointment.

It is noted that the vaccination centres will remain closed during Easter holidays from Friday 22 April 2022 until Monday 24 April 2022 and will re-operate as of Tuesday 26 April 2022.
