The President of the Republic met with the President of Estonia in Tallinn

The President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, who is paying an official visit to Estonia, met today with the President of Estonia Mr Alar Karis.

President Anastasiades, accompanied by his spouse Mrs Andri Anastasiades, arrived in the morning at the Presidential Office (Kadriorg) in Tallinn where he was officially welcomed by President Karis and his spouse.

At the official welcoming ceremony, a military guard presented honours and the National Anthems of the two countries were performed.

The two Presidents then held a private meeting followed by expanded talks between the delegations of the two sides.  

Among the issues discussed during the talks were the current situation on the Cyprus problem and the continuing provocations by Turkey against the Republic of Cyprus, the war in Ukraine, the bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to further enhance cooperation between Cyprus and Estonia.

President Anastasiades is accompanied in Tallinn by the Government Spokesman Mr Marios Pelekanos, the Deputy Minister to the President Mr Kyriacos Koushos, the Deputy Minister for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Mr Kyriacos Kokkinos, the Ambassador of Cyprus to Estonia Mr Demetris Samuel and other officials.

The meeting of the two Presidents was preceded by a ceremony where the new Ambassador of Cyprus to Estonia Mr Samuel presented his credentials to President Karis at the Presidential Office.

After the meeting at the Presidential Office, the President of the Republic visited Tallinn’s Town Hall where he met with the Mayor of the city Mr Mihhail Kõlvart.

Later on, the President visited the pharmacy Raeapteek, which is the oldest in Europe and operates since 1422.

Afterwards, President Anastasiades attended a working lunch hosted by the Speaker of the Estonian Parliament Mr Jüri  Ratas.

Tonight, the President of the Republic will attend an official dinner hosted in his honour by President Karis.
