On 17 July 2018, Ambassador Ms Elena Rafti presented her credentials, as the new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the UN Office in Vienna to Mr Yuri Fedotov, Director-General of the UN Office in Vienna and Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

Ms Rafti assured Mr Fedotov of Cyprus’ readiness to further assist and support the work of the UN in Vienna. Possible ways of strengthening the cooperation and participation of the Republic of Cyprus to the UNODC, as well as outer space affairs were also discussed. Furthermore, Ms Rafti underlined the importance that Cyprus attaches to the protection of cultural heritage, making a specific reference to the Convention of Nicosia on Offences relating to Cultural Property.
