Job vacancies: 2nd quarter 2018

The number of job vacancies for the 2nd quarter of 2018 was 5.148. The number of job vacancies increased by 2.440 (90,1%) compared to the same quarter of the previous year when it was 2.708. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2018 the number of job vacancies increased by 1.387 (36,8%).(Table 1)
The job vacancy rate for the 2nd quarter of 2018 was 1,4%, while the job vacancy rate for the previous quarter was 1,2% and the 2nd quarter of 2017 was 0,8%. The largest job vacancy rates for the 2nd quarter of 2018 were presented in the Sections Arts, Entertainment and Recreation (2,7%) and Accommodation and Food Service Activities (2,6%). (Table 2)

METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Definitions
A job vacancy has to be announced as vacant outside the enterprise concerned, has to be filled in the near future and the employer must have taken active steps to find a suitable candidate.
The job vacancy rate is calculated on the total number of persons employed.
Coverage
The survey covers enterprises with 1 and more employees in all the Economic Activities of NACE Rev.2 except A (Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing), T (Activities of Households as Employers; Undifferentiated Goods- and Services-Producing Activities of Households for own use) and U (Activities of Extraterritorial Organizations and Bodies).
Collection of data
The data collection is carried out by telephone interview every quarter.
