The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus and Greece met today with the Prime Minister of Israel
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, met today, in Israel, with the Prime Minister of the country, Mr Benjamin Netanyahu, and the Foreign Minister of Greece, Mr Nicos Kotzias.
Prior to their consultations, the Prime Minister of Israel in his remarks to the Media said: “Between Greece, Israel and Cyprus we have many things we cooperate on - environment, energy, security, emergency services, tourism and others. Our prime focus right now is on energy, on developing the Eastern Mediterranean pipeline which is a great project; could be one of the great underwater projects in the world and obviously it is something we think is important. Equally we think it is important that all countries respect the territorial waters - internationally recognized territorial waters - and this is something that is important for all of us.”
On his part Mr Christodoulides said: “This is the second time we are in Israel in six months. It is very important that our cooperation, the cooperation of the three predictable reliable democracies of the region, is recognized by the international community as having an added value for the stability in the region. Our cooperation is recognized as a pillar of stability, and I am looking forward to today’s consultation and through substantial discussions and decisions not only to enhance our cooperation, but also to pave the way for an enlarged regional cooperation.”
In his remarks, Mr Kotzias said: “We have to discuss about the situation in the Middle East, it is very important to discuss about Syria, about a peace plan. We are three countries that love peace and democracy and that is the reason why we want to develop further our cooperation and we have many ideas and many thoughts and we will discuss them.”
