The new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of Moldova, Mr Marios Kountourides, presented his credentials to the President of Moldova, Ms Maia Sandu, in an official ceremony held at the Presidential Palace, on 15 September 2023.

In a meeting that followed the credentials ceremony, Ambassador Kountourides conveyed the warm greetings of the President of the Republic, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, to President Sandu.  He also conveyed an invitation for an official visit of the Moldovan Οfficial to Cyprus. For her part, President Sandu extended an invitation to President Christodoulides to visit Moldova in the near future.

During the meeting, the friendly relations between the two countries were reaffirmed, as well as the commitment to further strengthen and deepen the bilateral cooperation. Ambassador Kountourides had the opportunity to brief President Sandu on the latest developments regarding the Cyprus question and President Christodoulides’ initiative for the resumption of the negotiations.
