The Department of Antiquities of the Deputy Ministry of Culture announces that on Wednesday the 1^st of November 2023 an event will be organised at the Cyprus Museum marking the closing of the temporary exhibition “In the Same Place” with the works of artist Katerina Attalidou (https://stonidiotopothecyprusmuseum.com/). The exhibition opened on the 18^th March 2023 with a duration until 10^th September 2023.

The duration of the exhibition was extended until the 1^st November 2023 in response to the exhibitions’ large attendance and great popularity, with both local and foreign visitors. The exhibition is accompanied by a publication in Greek and English, available at the Cyprus Museum Shop.

The event will include a guided tour of the exhibition by the artist Katerina Attalidou and co-curator Efthymia Alphas of the Department of Antiquities. The tour will conclude at around 19:00 when the awarded writer Louiza Papaloizou will be sharing some of her thoughts on the exhibition. A musical performance will follow by musicians Demetris Yiasemides (flute) and Natasa Hadjiandreou (marimba).

Some information on the exhibition

Through a series of 86 watercolours the artist enters into a dialogue with the Cyprus Museum’s permanent collection. Her approach is emotional and sensitive as she is led by the archaeological exhibits to their places of origin. The exhibition title denotes, amongst other things, the coexistence of Attalidou’s watercolours with the selected exhibits in the Cyprus Museum, as well as her physical presence in the same place in which the archaeological objects were discovered.

Monday: closed

Every first Wednesday of the month: 8.00 − 20.00
