Statements by the President of the Republic on sending humanitarian aid to Gaza
The President of the Republic, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, replied to Press questions yesterday regarding the proposal of the Republic of Cyprus for the creation of a sea corridor to Gaza, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the premises of the Cyprus University of Technology's Faculty of Tourism Management, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship.
President Christodoulides made the following statement: «I had a long telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Israel and tonight I will also have one with the President of France in order to investigate precisely how the proposal we have submitted can be developed. We are discussing the details and I hope that soon we will be able to proceed to the stage of implementation”.
Replying to a question whether they are positive, the President of the Republic said “Of course they are positive.”
Called to comment how it will work and whether the whole process will be monitored, the President of the Republic stated: “Of course it will be monitored both from Cyprus upon departure of the humanitarian aid, as well as at the point of destination. It is precisely all these details that we are discussing.”
