First Cyprus-Greece Intergovernmental Summit in Athens
The 1st Cyprus-Greece Intergovernmental Summit, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, and the Prime Minister of Greece, Mr Kyriakos Mitsotakis, is taking place in Athens today.
The President of the Republic and the Prime Minister of Greece attended a dinner yesterday evening at the Maximos Mansion, during which, inter alia, the latest developments regarding the Cyprus problem were discussed.
This morning, the Ministers of the Cypriot Government who travelled to Athens will, within the framework of the Intergovernmental summit, have bilateral meetings with their Greek counterparts on issues of cooperation in their respective areas of competence.
The Cypriot Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Defence, Education, Sports and Youth, Energy, Commerce and Industry, Health, the Deputy Minister to the President, the Deputy Minister of Shipping and the Deputy Minister of Culture will participate in the bilateral ministerial meetings, which will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Cypriot delegation includes the Government Spokesman.
On the Greek side, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Health, Environment and Energy, Citizen Protection, Migration and Asylum, Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Culture, Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, and the Deputy Minister of Defence will participate in the meetings.
Subsequently, the President of the Republic accompanied by his Government Ministers, will go to the Maximos Mansion, to attend the Plenary Session of the Summit with Prime Minister Mitsotakis and the participating Ministers of the Greek Government.
Following that (around 1:00 p.m.), President Christodoulides and Prime Minister Mitsotakis will make statements to the media, and immediately afterwards, they will attend a working lunch at the Maximos Mansion.
The President of the Republic and the members of the Cypriot delegation will return to Cyprus tonight.
Furthermore, on the sidelines of the Intergovernmental Summit, the President of the Republic will receive this morning a delegation from the National Student Union of Cypriots (EFEK).
