Announcement by the Digital Security Authority regarding the establishment of a National Cybersecurity Certification Authority in Cyprus
In accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 03/01/2024 it is hereby announced that the Digital Security Authority has been appointed as the National Cybersecurity Certification Authority (NCCA) in the Republic of Cyprus. The establishment and the powers of the NCCA are in line with the provisions of the European Regulation 2019/881, related to the Cybersecurity Act.
The National Cybersecurity Certification Authority aims to foster the adoption of cybersecurity certification of products and services in the information technology and communication sectors. Furthermore, it aspires to enhance the relevant capabilities of the Republic of Cyprus, in order to become a regional certification centre. The NCCA, along with other activities and structures, will contribute towards Cyprus’ aim to become a regional hub for cybersecurity services. The NCCA will have the authority to certify European and third-country products and services available in the European market.
