The new High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to Papua New Guinea, Mrs Martha A. Mavrommatis, has presented her Letters of Credence to the Governor General, H.E. Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae, GCL, GCMG, KSt.J.

During the accreditation ceremony, High Commissioner Mavrommatis conveyed President Nicos Anastasiades greetings and wishes for progress and well-being to H.E the Governor-General, the Government and the people of Papua New Guinea.

The High Commissioner referred to the bilateral relations between Cyprus and Papua New Guinea, as well as to a result driven multilateral cooperation, both within the EU – Papua New Guinea and the Commonwealth coordination frameworks. With regards to the Cyprus problem, the High Commissioner expressed the gratitude of the Republic of Cyprus for the principled stance of Papua New Guinea on finding a just and viable solution to the Cyprus problem.

H.E the Governor-General reciprocated his personal wishes to President Anastasiades and reiterated his country’s support in efforts to resolve the Cyprus problem.

In concluding, the Governor-General extended his wishes to H.E Mrs Mavrommatis for success in her assignment and offered every assistance in carrying out her duties.
