The European Defence Agency (EDA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence of Cyprus, organised a Conference in Larnaca on February 27 and 28 as part of the Consultation Forum for Sustainable Energy in the Defence and Security Sector (CF SDESS). The Conference brought together more than 90 experts in energy from 29 countries, independent organisations, academic institutions, and companies.
In his welcome speech Mr Andreas P. Loukas, Permanent Secretary of the Cyprus Ministry of Defence, stressed that the defence sector pioneers the adoption and development of environmentally friendly models and technologies aiming at enhancing the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces, while achieving energy-saving and sustainable development goals. This collective and collaborative effort at the european level is expected to yield multiple benefits.
In parallel with the conference, a static exhibition took place where Cypriot SMEs, active in the Defence sector, presented innovative solutions in the areas of energy conservation, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability in applications for the defence sector. The exhibition provided an excellent opportunity for participants to stay informed about the latest developments in this field.
