The Minister of Foreign Affairs due to Barcelona for the 3rd Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, departs later today for Barcelona, where he will participate at the 3rd Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean that takes place tomorrow, Monday, October 8th, with the participation of 25 Foreign Ministers from the European Union and the region and in the presence of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Mrs. Federica Mogherini.
During the Forum, Ministers will, inter alia, take stock of the actions and achievements of the Union for the Mediterranean over the past ten years since it was founded and exchange views on the future course of the Union, based on the objectives set out by the participating States.
While in Spain, Mr. Christodoulides will hold a meeting with the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, Mr. Josep Borrell, during which discussions are expected to focus on bilateral relations between Cyprus and Spain, as well as on issues pertaining to developments at a regional and European level, such as relations between the European Union and Turkey and the state of play in the Cyprus problem.
From Barcelona, the Foreign Minister will travel on to Crete, where he will accompany the President of the Republic, Mr. Nicos Anastasiades, to the 6th Cyprus – Egypt – Greece Trilateral Summit that will take place there on October 10th.
