The new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mr Sevag Avedissian, presented on 27 August 2024 his credentials to His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein in an official ceremony at Basman Palace, in Amman.

During the conversation that followed, His Majesty King Abdullah conveyed warm greetings and extended his personal regards to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, referring to the friendly and multidimensional relations between the two countries. In this context, he underlined that he looks forward to his next visit to Cyprus before the end of the current year. Furthermore, he referred to the current situation in the Middle East and Jordan’s efforts towards reaching a solution and addressing the enormous humanitarian needs in Gaza. 

Ambassador Avedissian conveyed the heartfelt greetings of President Christodoulides to the Jordanian Monarch, underlining the commitment of the Cyprus Government to further strengthen and deepen the relation and cooperation between the two countries, both at the bilateral level and in the context of the trilateral cooperation mechanism with Greece. In this context, he stressed that President Christodoulides is looking forward to His Majesty’s visit to Cyprus in the coming months.
