Launching of the Labour Cost Survey 2024

The Statistical Service announces the launch of the Labour Cost Survey for the reference year 2024.

The survey is carried out every four years on the basis of the Official Statistics Law of 2021 (Law No. 25(I)/2021) and according to the provisions of Commission Regulation (EC) No 1726/1999, implementing Council Regulation (EC) No 530/1999 concerning structural statistics on earnings and on labour costs.

The purpose of this sample survey is the collection of data in order to determine the level and the structure of the labour cost. The data requested from sampled enterprises for the year 2024, which will have to be completed electronically and submitted online are:

1. Total staff employed

2. Overtime

3. Absences (holidays, public holidays, sick leave, etc.)

4. Total labour cost

The data collection will take place during the period February 2025-June 2025. For this purpose, employees of the Statistical Service will contact the sampled enterprises by phone, so that the contact details of the individuals who will undertake the completion of the online questionnaire may be provided. Subsequently, an electronic mail will be sent to the enterprises with the relevant instructions for completing the questionnaire.

Enterprises wishing to verify that the phone number contacting them is indeed used by the Statistical Service for the purposes of this survey may do so via a tool created specifically for this purpose, available on the web portal of the Statistical Service.

According to the Official Statistics Law of 2021 (Law No. 25(I)/2021), the Statistical Service is obliged to treat all information collected as confidential and to use it solely for statistical purposes. It should be noted that, according to the provisions of article 13(2) of the Law, the provision of data for statistical purposes by any person is mandatory. Failure to comply may result in penalties, according to the provisions of article 19 of the Law.
