Job vacancies: 3rd quarter 2018

The number of job vacancies for the 3rd quarter of 2018 was 7.667. The number of job vacancies increased by 2.964 (63,0%) compared to the same quarter of the previous year when the number was 4.703. Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2018 the number of job vacancies increased by 2.519 (48,9%). (Table 1)
The job vacancy rate for the 3rd quarter of 2018 was 2,2%, while the job vacancy rate for the previous quarter and the 3rd quarter of 2017 was 1,4%. The largest job vacancy rates for the 3rd quarter of 2018 were observed in the Sections Other Service Activities (3,7%) and Accommodation and Food Service Activities (3,3%). (Table 2)

Methodological information
Definitions
A job vacancy has to be announced as vacant outside the enterprise concerned, has to be filled in the near future and the employer must have taken active steps to find a suitable candidate.
The job vacancy rate is calculated on the total number of persons employed.
Coverage
The survey covers enterprises with 1 and more employees in all the Economic Activities of NACE Rev.2 except A (Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing), T (Activities of Households as Employers; Undifferentiated Goods- and Services-Producing Activities of Households for own use) and U (Activities of Extraterritorial Organizations and Bodies).
Collection of data
The data collection is carried out by telephone interview every quarter.
