In an official ceremony held on March 6^th 2018 at the Riga Castle in Latvia, Mr Sotos Liassides, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Latvia, Mr Raimonds Vējonis, as the new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Latvia with residence in Stockholm.

During a private audience, following the presentation of credentials, the new Ambassador of the Republic conveyed the sincere and cordial greetings of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, to the President of Latvia.

Ambassador Liassides briefed the Latvian President about the latest developments on the Cyprus problem, as well on the developments in the Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone. Furthermore, the two officials exchanged views on economic, political and social affairs in Cyprus and Latvia, and discussed current issues of international and regional interest.

Finally, Ambassador Liassides expressed his readiness to further develop the bilateral relations between Cyprus and Latvia, both within the European Union and the United Nations, as well as at other international fora.
