The Deputy Ministry of Tourism among the founding members of the International Sports and Tourism Organization for Peace & Prosperity
An official tri-party meeting between the Deputy Minister of Cyprus, Mr Savvas Perdios, the Minister of Tourism of Greece, Mrs Elena Kountoura, and the Minister of Tourism of Lebanon, Mr Avedis Guidanian, was held in Beirut on April 10, 2019.
The meeting was held in an exceptionally cooperative climate and the creation of the International Sports and Tourism Organization for Peace & Prosperity (ISTO for P&P) was announced.
Main aim of the Organization is the advancement of world peace and prosperity through sports and tourism; factors that inspire and mobilize millions of civilians worldwide. The Organization will, inter alia, promote sustainable development, social cohesion, gender equality, economic cooperation
The Ministry of Tourism of Greece proposed the creation of the Organization, based in Athens. With the completion of the official incorporation procedure, the Organization will be placed under the auspices of the WTO of the United Nations.
It is an honor for Cyprus, and a worth mention success for the Deputy Ministry of Tourism in the first months since its establishment, to participate as a founding member of the International Sports and Tourism Organization for Peace & Prosperity, with Greece, Lebanon, Egypt, Bulgaria and Portugal.
The Deputy Ministry of Tourism embraces this important effort and will work intensively for its success as member of the Coordinating Committee.
