The Statistical Service announces the publication of the report entitled "Registration of Motor Vehicles" for the period January-June 2019.

 The main developments in the first six months of 2019, compared to the same period of 2018, were:

(a) The total registrations of motor vehicles decreased by 10,0% to 23.449 in January-June 2019,  from 26.059 vehicles in the same period of 2018.

(b) Passenger saloon cars decreased to 19.102, from 21.642 in January-June 2018, i.e. there was a decrease of 11,7%. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 6.716 or 35,2% were new and 12.386 or 64,8% were used cars.

(c) Goods conveyance vehicles increased by 2,6% to 2.680 in January-June 2019, compared to 2.613 in January-June 2018. Light goods vehicles increased by 3,3% to 2.306, heavy goods vehicles decreased by 2,2% to 273 and road tractors (units of trailers) decreased by 1,0% to 101. 

(d) Mopeds < 50cc increased to 165 in January-June 2019, compared to 149 in January-June 2018.

(e) Mechanised cycles > 50cc decreased by 8,6% to 1.189 in the first six  months of 2019, compared to 1.301 in the corresponding period of 2018.
