The delivery of nursing care in Cyprus is based on the fundamental principles of dedication to caring of people throughout their life cycle 24 hours a day, respect of basic human rights and tackling inequalities in health. All nurses work within their multidisciplinary teams, in order to provide the best quality care to their patients. Nurses and Midwives serve as individual and family advocators, as counsellors, as supporters and they are key professionals for the provision of healthcare services.

I would like to congratulate the Cyprus Nurses and Midwives Association for the organization of this Conference. Such initiatives are very important since they can provide all necessary information to healthcare policy makers for the improvement of health care systems, for the improvement of nursing.
