Telephone communication of the President of the Republic with the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community with reference to cooperation regarding the issue of coronavirus
The President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, today, January 31, 2020 had a telephone conversation with the Turkish-Cypriot leader, Mr Mustafa Akinci, who conveyed his concerns about the dangers of the spread of the coronavirus and the need for co-operation in order to take joint measures to protect the Cypriot people.
The President of the Republic, taking into account the overriding duty of protecting the citizens of the Republic of Cyprus, Greek-Cypriots and Turkish-Cypriots, and the need to take the necessary measures to prevent any risk of spreading the virus, agreed with the Turkish-Cypriot leader on a meeting of the bi-communal Technical Committee on Health, on Monday, February 3 at 6:00 pm, at Ledra Palace.
In view of the scheduled attendance of the two leaders at the bi-communal Technical Committee on Culture event, at 7.30 pm at the same venue, it was agreed that at 6:00 p.m. the two leaders will have a joint meeting with the Technical Committee on Health, who will inform them on the best ways of cooperation and the necessary measures to be taken to provide the maximum possible protection to the Cypriot people, Greek-Cypriots and Turkish-Cypriots
