Measures taken after the confirmation of new cases of coronavirus at Lefkosia and Larnaka General Hospitals
Further to the announcement of coronavirus cases that concern a health professional at the Cardiology Intensive Care Unit of Lefkosia General Hospital and a patient who is currently under treatment at the Pathology Ward of Larnaka General Hospital, the State Health Services Organisation, following the guidelines issued by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit, took the following measures for the protection of the health of health professionals, personnel and the patients that are under treatment at the afforementioned wards of the two hospitals:
-Both wards are going to be isolated and no new patients are going to be admitted to those wards.
-Samples from all the members of the personnel that have been exposed to the confirmed cases and from all the patients found in those particular wards are going to be collected and they are going to be examined by the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics.
-The members of the personnel that, after assessment, have been considered to have been exposed to the confirmed cases are going to be obligatorily placed in isolation and they are going to be given self-monitoring guidelines of their state of health.
-Continuous tracking down of all the staff members and the patients is going to be conducted by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health for the possible detection of new cases.
-Patients receiving treatment at the Pathology Ward of Larnaka General Hospital and at the Cardiology Intensive Care Unit of Lefkosia General Hospital are going to be isolated and their clinical condition is going to be regularly assessed.
-The areas are going to be disinfected as protocol dictates.
An investigation will be carried out as required.
The State Health Services Organisation is going to keep the public informed about any related development.
We are calling upon each one separately to behave responsibly and follow the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health for the protection of everyone.
We shall get through this together #thatakataferoume
