Council of Ministers: SafePass possession checks will be conducted only through the CovScan Cyprus application as of November 8th
Checks carried out in premises/enterprises where the SafePass demonstration is mandatory must be carried through the CovScanCyprus application as of Monday, November 8th, following a decision of the Council of Ministers and in consultation with the Ministry of Health and the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy.
Therefore, in premises/establishments where the possession of SafePass is required, owners/operators or their authorized employees must by 8 November have the application in order to conduct the checkes. The app can be installed on any device that uses Android software and is available free of charge via Google Play. An explanatory video on how the application works can be found at the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFa0Cta2VLw.
The application quickly and safely certifies the validity of the European Digital Certificate (EUDCC) for SafePass purposes and is expected to facilitate the check process.
The check through the application is done by scanning the QR code indicated on the certificate (in paper or electronic form) and presents the following validity check results:
— Green: The certificate is valid and means that the holder has completed his/her vaccination scheme or has become ill with COVID-19.
— Yellow/Amber: The certificate is valid and means that the holder has undergone a PCR or rapid antigen test with a negative result.
— Red: The certificate is invalid.
It is stressed that the application was designed in compliance with all the provisions for the protection of personal data, shows only the name and date of birth of the holder and does not store the personal data of citizens or the history of their checks.
